Message: Generosity
REVIEW:
This week we learned the 3 ways that Scripture asks us to give:
First - Before we give to or spend on anything else, we give to God.
Sacrificially - We give what is comfortable for us and then a little more.
Automatically - We exercise generosity so consistently that it becomes second-nature.
This message brings us full circle in our Over/Under series. In week 1, we recognized that for us to win with money, we have to change how we think about and manage it. In week 2, we answered the question, "Where Does It Go?" and saw how MetaChurch uses the funds to push forward the Movement of Jesus. This week, we were challenged to do our part in funding the movement.
How does putting God FIRST in your finances shift how you think about money?
What would it look like for you to not just give, but give sacrificially?
Who is the most generous person you have met? How would you describe the quality of their life? What impact did they have on you?
APPLY:
Jesus followers should be known as many things - loving, compassionate, courageous... We also should be known as the most generous people on earth. After all, our movement was started when the founder, Jesus, gave us EVERYTHING including His life!
What is one way you will begin to exercise your generosity?
Perhaps you give when it is convenient and need to start putting God first
Maybe you give what is comfortable and can start giving sacrificially
Or, this may be the moment you decide to automate your generosity - no longer leaving it up to chance
Each team member commit to one way you will exercise generosity this week.
PRAY:
Spend some time in prayer for each other and for MetaChurch. God is using you in incredible ways and when we come together with who we are and what we have, God uses it in ways we can not even imagine!
Pray for the courage to be generous and the faith to believe that God will bless our sacrifices. Ask God to reveal opportunities in your sphere of influence to be an example of what a Christ Follower is really all about.
