Series: Walk It Talk It

Message: Team Up

REVIEW:

Throughout the Bible we see the Movement of God empowering leaders to steward and spread the message. We believe the church should operate in the same way! The pastoral staff simply is unable to provide for the needs of all the people, and they shouldn't! Every member of the congregation is just as important, just as critical to the work of the church!

We read in Luke chapter 5 about Jesus calling his first disciples.

The first thing Jesus noticed was not the men, but their boats! He not only wanted to use who they were, he wanted to use what they had to move the mission forward.

What has God given you in this life that He may be wanting to use in His movement? It could be a talent, a resource, a connection, or an actual physical - tangible - object. Perhaps God wants to use your connection with a school through your PTA role to show the teachers the love of Jesus. Maybe your job positions you to help others around you be successful, without expecting anything in return! Many people decided this week to open their homes up to accommodate more Life Teams and reach more people.

APPLY:

The way the Disciples showed that they were going to be useful in Jesus' ministry was their willingness to abandon all they had known and all that they had. Jesus would use their boats many more times to push his mission forward; however, he made it clear they would no longer be fishing for tilapia - they were now fishers of men!

When we submit all we are and all we have to Jesus, he can use us in the most unimaginable and impactful ways!

Are you willing to "Drop your nets" to follow Jesus?

How do you begin to live in a way that you are ready to follow Jesus, no matter the cost?

This week, take some time to identify the area of your life that it is the hardest to give control to God. It could be parenting your kids, loving your spouse, how you spend money, the kind of friends you keep... In other words, what is the one area of your life where it would be hardest to "drop the net" to follow Jesus.

Identify that area and spend time praying for the courage and peace to hand it over to God.

PRAY:

Spend some time in your group praying specifically for the new Life Team Leaders. They are getting ready to embark on a significant journey! Pray that God calms their nerves, that they walk in confidence in this calling, and that they find great joy in the hard work ahead!
