The Lord appeared to Jacob and told him, “Return to the land of your father and grandfather and to your relatives there, and I will be with you” (v. 3). God was calling Jacob to leave a turbulent situation for an even more fearful one, an angry brother who swore to kill him. But God said, “I will be with you,” and that makes all the difference. When we know God is with us, we can face any challenge and endure any crisis. Lord God, please be with us.
