Genesis 25: Blessed Pleading

After Abraham’s death, God blessed Isaac as he had blessed Abraham (v. 11). But like his father and mother, he and Rebekah were unable to have children for 20 years. So Isaac pleaded with the Lord on behalf of his wife. And the Lord answered his prayer and Rebekah became pregnant with twins (v. 21). Being blessed does not mean we will never face challenging, and even gut-wrenching, situations in life. But being blessed does mean God is inclined to respond to our pleading, but he will respond in his own timing. Blessing, pleading, and waiting often go together as expressions of faith in God.
