Verse 1 says, “But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals.” So God sent a strong wind to make the waters recede. When Noah came out of the boat, he built an altar and sacrificed certain approved animals and birds as burnt offerings. These sacrifices please the Lord. And this practice of offering sacrifices became a key element in relating with God. This part of Noah’s story reminds us that we please God when we give offerings as a sacrifice to him. It’s a sign of our value of the relationship and our acknowledgement of his blessing. Offerings also reflect our understanding that all we have ultimately belongs to the Lord anyway. So be generous. .
